Through the Grace and Blessing of H.H Pope Tawadros II and H.G Bishop Mina, on December 4th, 2016, Fr. AnthonySoliman was ordained to the rank of priesthood for St. Mary and St. Paul in Calgary.
Bassem Dawoud is a deacon at St Mary & St Paul (SMSP) and dedicated husband and father of triplets. He has served at SMSP since its inception as a non-profit organization in Alberta since 2015 and previously served at St Mina Coptic Church of Calgary since moving to Canada with his family in the fall of 1988. While Calgary is home, he was fortunate to travel for work in the five largest 5 cities in Canada among others.
Professionally, he is an Enterprise Architect at the City of Calgary. He began his career with Ernst & Young LLP in 1997 after completion of his Bachelor’s from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He has acquired over 20 years of experience in Information Technology with over half of that time in Management Consulting working with clients across several industry verticals.
Saad Gerges has been a deacon at St Mary and St Paul Church of Calgary since 2014 and before that a deacon at St Mina Church of Calgary and at St Mark Church Maadi in Egypt. Saad is a dedicated husband and father of two daughters and has been a member of the board of deacons since 2015.
He is a mechanical engineer and received his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from The Cairo Military Technical College and received his Management Diploma from the military Management School. Saad is a Professional Engineer in Canada with APEGA Membership.
Vivian Wahby is a member of St Mary & St Paul (SMSP) and has served at SMSP since its inception as a non-profit organization in Alberta since 2015. She has previously served at St Mina Coptic Orthodox Church of Calgary since moving to Canada with her family in 1990.
She completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Ain Shams University in Cairo. She began her career as an Auditor in the Central Auditing Organization in Cairo, where she worked for 12 years before immigrating to Calgary, Alberta. She has acquired 28 years of experience in Oil & Gas Accounting in various capacities until her retirement.
Dr. Ayman Tadros is a congregation member and deacon at St Mary & St Paul Church of Calgary. He has been a regular attendant of the Church since his family moved to Calgary in 2008. Ayman is a committed husband and father of two children. He has settled in Canada since 2001.
Ayman received his Bachelor’s Degree of Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Egypt in 1998 and obtained his Canadian medical license in 2005. He practiced for many years in Whitehorse, Yukon where he gained a variety of experience and skills as the Designated medical practitioner for immigration, providing Low-Risk Obstetrics and Family Medicine. In addition to being the Medical Director for Mountain View Medical Centres (Glenmore, Macleod & Cranston) and providing Low Risk Obstetrics at the South Health Campus, he is also a Core Site Lead preceptor for the Family Medicine Residency program at the University of Calgary and a Director of the South Anderson Primary Care Association
In his free time, Dr. Tadros enjoys reading, playing soccer, biking and playing with his two children.
Dr. Mervat Kozman has been a regular congregation member and servant at St Mary & St Paul Church since its inception in 2014. From an early age, she was engaged in Coptic Church research and translation projects. She has translated many books and published several articles on Christian education. She has also co-authored a book on Christian education.
After finishing medical school in 1990, Mervat has been fortunate to work and live in Egypt, all over the United States, and England. She specializes in Psychiatry and is driven by her desire to establish a bridge between what science offers and the teachings of our Coptic Church relative to mental health. Mervat has called Calgary home since 2009 where she lives and practices professionally. Since her move to Calgary, and as a resident of the South West, Mervat feels fortunate to be involved in attending and serving at a SMSP, close to home.
Medhat Michaiel is a servant at St Mary & St Paul Church of Calgary and has been a regular member of the congregation since its inception in 2014. He has also been a regular member of the St Mina Coptic Church since he settled in Calgary with his family back in 1996. Medhat is a dedicated husband and father of three sons, two daughters in law, and proud grandfather to one grandson.
Medhat is a Structural Engineer by education, has over two decades of engineering experience, and is currently a practicing Professional Engineer in Alberta and member of APEGA.
Ordained to the deacon rank of Epsaltos - Chanter at the age of 7, was dedicated to the service at St.Mary’s Church in Ottawa, Ontario. After years of growth he was ordained to the rank of Anaghnotos – Reader in 1998 by H.G Bishop Tadros. Manny served as a Reader, Sunday school teacher and board member in Ottawa until his relocation to Calgary in 2006. There, he continued his service as a reader and encouraged the younger generations to participate more in the church services. In 2016, he began his service at St.Mary and St.Paul’s church in Calgary and supported Fr. Anthony in growing the church. In June 2017, he was ordained to the rank of Epideacon – Sub-Deacon, by H.G Bishop Mina, for St. Mary and St. Paul’s church in Calgary. Working alongside Fr. Anthony, he coordinated programs such as HLC (Hymnology Learning Center) and assisted with the organization of deacons and the standardization of English hymns. Manny also provides enlightenment through sermons and pre-servant lessons.
Professionally, Manny is the President and CEO of Archangel Technologies Inc, an IT support provider. Before starting his company in 2017, he has worked with small to large companies around Canada and held positions such as IT Manager, Resource Planning, Financial and Manufacturing Consultant.
He has recently gotten married and is excited to start growing his family.
Karim is an Psaltos Deacon, ordained in 2003 by Bishop Basanty of Helwan upon HG visit to St. Mark Church in Montreal where Karim lived and studied there for 6 years. Karim has moved to Calgary at the end of 2006 and worked in the architectural field for a couple of years before
continuing his graduate studies in the field of environmental design.
Karim is part of the Korban and Altar service group and his wife Rasha Iskandar is a Sunday School teacher at St. Mary & St. Paul Church. Karim also
served at St. Mina Coptic Church as part of the Korban service group in its old location on 17 Ave and on an advisory committee for the new design of St. Mina Coptic Church in Balzac. Karim recently served on a technical advisory committee elected by SMSP board for the overall condition of the existing Abundant Life Church building.
